Okay, so we know now that the starting rotation is pretty darn imperfect. Currently, after Guthrie and Britton (only 2 big league starts), it really is a crap shoot with Arrieta, Timman and Bergeson.
But, the surprise has been the anemic offense. Lee and Guerrero are both past their prime years but the O’s need to coax one more big year out of both in 2011 for this plan to work.
Currently, 5 players we’d deem as regulars Lee (.194), Hardy (.200 and on DL), Scott (.188), Roberts (.214), Jones (.189) are hitting well below the simple .250 plateau. Wieters is at .241, Guerrero is at .268 and Mark Reynolds is hitting a downright robust .273.
The Birds are also averaging 1 HR per game and their leader is Roberts with 3. So we can bitch all we want about the pitching, this Orioles team was supposed to rake…I’d say it’s time they start.
